Retrospectively, however, the album has been more positively. The one redeeming quality here is that at an anemic running time of 30 minutes, Universal Pulse isn’t likely to waste much of your life. Upon its release, Transistor received negative reviews from critics, who felt that the record was overly long and self-indulgent. I made it a little easier to read as well. As it is now, 311 lay as a mere shell of their former selves entirely devoid of any soul or artistic passion. P-Nut uses the low B string in almost all of 311's more recent songs. Unlike 311’s last three albums, which were built around a foundation of bruising volume and boundless energy, Transistor is an equal balance of noise and nuance.
